Rainha Santa was established in 1879 for the production of the Elvas Plum in Estremoz 40kms from Elvas (click on Elvas to get a feel of our town) in the Alentejo in the East of Portugal. Since then the company has had several owners and the Clements family took over the business in 1991. At that time the focus was still on making the Elvas Fruits and curing olives. Over the last 16 years we have developed the range of products and introduced them to the UK.
Our range now includes fresh fruit marmalades, greengage and apricot preserves, honeys, extra virgin olive oils and wild herbs from the Alentejo. The East of Portugal is the agricultural heartland of Portugal and the foods from this part of the world are grown naturally often free of chemicals and pesticides because the farmers simply cannot afford to use them. The rolling hills of the Alentejo are covered with vineyards and olive and cork groves. The orchards are generally the backyards to the "Montes" smallholdings.
